The Kell lab studies the virus-host interactions in pathogenic Old World orthohantavirus infection, and their molecular mechanisms, that program innate immunity and differential disease outcome among reservoir rodent hosts and humans.

Using a comparative immunology and genomics approach, we interrogate human and rodent models to identify differences in host innate immune responses and viral immune antagonism that correspond to divergent disease outcomes in orthohantavirus infections of reservoir and non-reservoir hosts.
